Sunset Beach sits on the coast between Milnerton and Bloubergstrand, a smaller and generally quieter beachfront pocket than its better-known neighbour, built up mostly with contemporary architect-designed homes rather than older beach cottages — concrete, steel and large expanses of glass are the dominant material palette, chosen deliberately to frame the ocean and, as the suburb's name suggests, the evening light off the water. This is a market of larger, design-led builds directly on the dunes rather than a high-volume apartment strip, which shows up in the scale of glazing we're asked to specify for.

How we specify for Sunset Beach

Large, unbroken glazing facing straight into the afternoon and evening sun is the defining feature of Sunset Beach's architecture, and it comes with a genuine heat-and-glare load that interior blinds alone often can't fully solve — which is why external venetian blinds and roller shutters see more use here than in almost any other area we serve: stopping the heat at the glass, from outside, before it ever becomes the room's problem. The same open dune-front position that makes the sunset views uninterrupted also means full Cape Doctor exposure through summer and winter storm-force northwesterlies, so every exterior product is specified with a genuine wind rating and, on motorised systems, a wind sensor for auto-retract. Salt-laden air off the adjacent ocean makes corrosion-resistant fixings a standard spec, not an option.
